Q – Do I need to see a doctor, general practitioner or physician before coming in for physiotherapy treatment?

A – No referral is required to book an appointment. Physio-Logic is contracted under ACC, and can open an injury claim on your behalf. Injuries resulting for an accident in New Zealand are covered under ACC. Chronic injuries may be covered under your health insurance, but may require you to be seen by a doctor prior to starting therapy. We always recommend that all of our patients be seen by a primary care physician or specialist. These doctors will usually write a prescription to physical therapy, which may allow our therapists to have more insight to your injury.
Q – What are your Opening hours?

A- Some of our clinics take appointments from as early as 5.30am – 7pm Monday – Friday, and morning hours on Saturdays. Feel free to contact us to inquire about our next available appointment time to suit you.
Q – What should I expect on my first visit?

A – On your initial appointment, your physiotherapist will perform an evaluation to assess your injury/impairments. Your evaluation will include a thorough personal history, a review of symptoms, and various tests and measures to gain a more specific understanding of your diagnosis. With all that information combined, your physiotherapist will make a clinical judgment as to your diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. A treatment program will be designed to remedy the problems identified, as well as to attain goals set forth with your physiotherapist and referring physician.
Q – What should I wear to the sessions?

A – You should always wear comfortable, athletic attire to physical therapy. If you are coming to any of our offices for a lower-extremity problem (i.e. knee, hip, leg, et
Q – What should I bring to my first appointment?

A – If your first visit is due to an injury, referrals are not required, and paperwork may be filled out onsite. Alternatively, you may bring the prescription from your referring doctor (if you have one), and any operative reports, including MRI or X-ray results. If you are using a brace, splint, crutches, or a cane, please bring those as well.
Q – How long will my visit last?

A – Initial evaluation appointment duration varies, with the average time being from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Depending on the injury, follow-up appointments generally last between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Q – What types of interventions may I receive?

A – The findings of your evaluation will determine what types of interventions you will receive. If inflammation and swelling is present, modalities such as, hot and cold therapy, neuromuscular electric stimulation, ultrasound or acupuncture may be used in conjunction with soft tissue massage. In addition, manual stretching and joint mobilisation may be applied when flexibility and mobility limitations are present. Therapeutic exercise is always a component of intervention and may include, but is not limited to:
